The ladies of The Hunting Wives are officially back in action. Netflix confirmed that season 2 of the buzzy, twisty thriller is now in production — and fans can expect plenty of familiar faces when the series returns.
Who’s Back for Season 2?
The streamer announced that Karen Rodriguez (Deputy Salazar) and Hunter Emery (Deputy Flynn) have both been bumped up to series regulars. Branton Box (Sheriff Johnny) will also return as a guest star. They join the previously confirmed main cast: Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, Jaime Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit and George Ferrier.
Season 2 picks up with Sophie and Margo no longer on good terms — but that truce doesn’t last long. According to the official logline, “Sophie and Margo are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games the question arises. Are they the hunters or the hunted?”
And if you thought season 1 was chaotic, Snow says viewers haven’t seen anything yet. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress teased that she visited the writers room to help brainstorm Sophie’s next chapter. “We want to see more Margo and Sophie because they really are so problematic, and they are the reason this show is crazy,” she shared. Snow also hinted that Sophie is stepping into a darker era: “The decisions [Sophie] makes at the end are a reflection of how she is a dangerous person. Now in season two, you’re going to see the type of person she really is.”
The series became a runaway hit when it premiered on Netflix last July, racking up more than 20 million views within five weeks and even earning a parody on Saturday Night Live with Amy Poehler and Aubrey Plaza.
Who’s Leaving?
Netflix hasn’t confirmed departures, but given the high body count in season 1, many supporting characters won’t return.
With production now underway, season 2 promises even more obsession, betrayal and dangerous fun — and this time, the stakes are higher than ever.
