Victoria Beckham has spoken out for the first time since her son Brooklyn Beckham’s estrangement from the family.
In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal published on Thursday morning, Beckham defends herself and husband David Beckham against accusations of trying to “control the narratives” around Brooklyn’s life and “trying endlessly to ruin” his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz. “I think that we’ve always — we love our children so much,” she said when asked about the relationship with her children. “We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”
Aside from Brooklyn, the Beckhams share three other children — Romeo, Cruz and Harper — who have stayed out of the family feud, and seemingly still have a relationship with their parents. Brooklyn, meanwhile, has been estranged from them for roughly three years.
Their feud was the focus of tabloid gossip for much of 2025 but reached a boiling point late last year after his wedding. In an Instagram story this past January, he wrote that he does “not want to reconcile with my family.” In the post, he accused his parents of putting “countless lies” in the media about him and his family and described his relationship with his parents and siblings as “inauthentic,” buoyed by “performative social media posts” and family events. He also claimed his parents tried everything they could to curb his relationship with Peltz. He said his mom “cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour” and “attempted to bribe” him into signing away the rights to his name before he got married.
In Victoria’s interview with WSJ, she noted that the negative press hasn’t affected her business. The former Spice Girl singer has owned an eponymous luxury fashion label since 2008, in addition to a more recently launched beauty line. “I think that ultimately people are buying my product because the product is really good,” she said. “I don’t think they’re buying my eyeliner just because it’s me.”
