After stepping out in pristine summer whites last week, George and Amal Clooney are continuing their couple coordination streak at the 2026 Venice International Film Festival.
On September 1, the stars were spotted arriving by boat to the Italian city in a set of ensembles that put La Dolce Vita spin on polished tailoring. Amal went monochromatic in a moss green silk short suit courtesy of Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann, featuring drawstring shorts, a scoop neck top, and an undone blazer layered over top. For an extra hit of texture, she finished the languid look with the brand’s grey suede bag. George stuck to his familiar slick codes—wearing a black polo paired with off-white trousers and a tonal belt. Both completed their outfits with their preferred styles of sunglasses: Amal in glamorously oversized oval shades and George in classic aviators.
The Clooneys are at their sartorial best in the summer, when they reliably decamp to their estate in Lake Como for the season. It is there that their signature aesthetic staples—like Amal’s impossibly chic blowout and George’s dapper tailoring—take on a more laid-back allure. Naturally, this extends to their styles at the Venice Film Festival, which takes place just a train ride away from their summer sojourn.
Venice is where Amal has debuted some of her best looks over the years, including the frothy pink taffeta gown from Jean-Louis Scherrer’s fall 1995 archives, which she wore last summer at the premiere of George’s film Jay Kelly. This year’s festival promises to be particularly special. Officially kicking off on September 2, the Venice Film Festival will find the Clooneys celebrating not a film release, but George’s receipt of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement—a prestigious award that recognizes the actor’s body of work. He will be presented with the honor at the event’s opening ceremony on Wednesday evening. We’re sure Amal and George will mark the occasion with an extra enchanting dose of couple dressing.
