Selma Blair credits constant travel with the reason why her 13-year-old son, Arthur Saint Bleick, is so well-behaved. Blair, who shares her only child with ex-boyfriend Jason Bleick, explained why she doesn’t need to be a “strict disciplinarian” as a parent.
“Traveling with him [has] made him into much more of a man and [has taught him] to respect other cultures, or just look nice,” Blair said during Travel + Leisure‘s World’s Best Summit on Wednesday.
“In a hotel, I can still pack for him at the age of 25,” she joked.

“He knows that being polite goes a long way, and I feel like that’s the same thing for anyone that you’re dealing with [who has] a disability,” Blair, who has multiple sclerosis, added. “It’s like just be kind and polite and listen because I have had some bad experiences.”
The Legally Blonde star revealed her MS diagnosis in 2018, and has since become an advocate for those suffering from the disease. Because of her symptoms, which include weakness and memory loss, Blair said that staying in hotels became a “saving grace” for her son.

“My child could have fun and learn how to behave around other people and the finer things, and I could eat and, and sleep,” Blair said, adding that she’s nicknamed her son “the prince of the chateau.”
“Travel has made him able to talk to anybody,” the actress continued. “Because I’m like, ‘Mom’s down, fend for yourself.'”
Arthur was last spotted with his mom at Paris Fashion Week in September 2024, where they sat front row together at Chloé’s spring presentation.
