- Amongst her many claims to fame, Grace Kelly was known for her penchant for poolside glamour.
- Camille Gottlieb, the Golden Age star’s granddaughter, now appears in a new poolside photoshoot for Vanity Fair France.
- This follows Gottlieb’s tribute to Kelly’s iconic tulle gown from Rear Window.
Grace Kelly—the name is practically synonymous with Golden Age glamour—specifically, glamour by the pool. Is it just me, or did the Hollywood star-turned-princess always seem to be lounging next to some sort of body of water? In the 1954 film Green Fire, she was a chic vision in linen on a boat on the Magdalena river in Columbia. That year, she also appeared in a famous pool scene in The Bridges at Toko-Ri. In 1955, she found herself taking a dip once again in a timeless black one-piece in To Catch a Thief. In 1956’s High Society, she played an upper class bride-to-be who spends her time lounging by her pool in the perfect halter swimsuit. It’s hardly surprising that she is pictured in or near the pool in countless photoshoots. When she married Prince Rainier of Monaco, she essentially became princess of the French Riviera—it’s hard to think of a better title for the originator of poolside glamour.

Now, Kelly’s granddaughter, Camille Gottlieb, is paying subtle homage to her grandmother’s penchant for the pool in a new photoshoot for Vanity Fair France. Appearing alongside her half-siblings, Pauline and Louis Ducret, Gottlieb is pictured lounging by a glittering blue tiled pool. She wears a silky baby blue button down and large hoops. Her blonde hair is tossed to one side of her face. The whole thing absolutely screams Grace Kelly.
In the interview that accompanies the photoshoot, Gottlieb commented on her resemblance to Kelly. “It’s a huge compliment and an honor to look like her,” she said. “She’s still the most beautiful woman in the world.”
“For me, she is above all my mother’s mother. I would really have liked to know her and talk with her,” she added.
Gottlieb’s poolside photoshoot comes just a week after she paid homage to another iconic sartorial Grace Kelly moment. Attending the 76th Red Cross Ball on July 12 in Monaco, Gottlieb wore a black-and-white tulle gown designed by Elisabetta Franchi, who took inspiration from the famous gown by Edith Head worn by Kelly in the 1954 film Rear Window.

“When I was little, I was often told I looked like my grandmother,” Gottlieb explained in French in an Instagram video about the dress. “For me, this is one of the biggest compliments… it’s an honor to pay homage to her this evening.”
