Whether you’re looking for the perfect cozy show to pair with your PSL and comfy sweaters—or you’re ready for Halloween and want to watch some chillers and thrillers to usher in the scary season—Netflix has plenty of fall movies that’ll fit the bill. So grab your favorite cozy throw (and your favorite cozy people) for a fun movie night.
Thursday Night Murder Club
A who’s who of legendary British actors—including Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Ben Kingsley— teams up to portray an amateur sleuthing society in a posh retirement community. When a series of murders happens a little too close to home, they utilize their wisdom and experience to solve the case in this cozy and clever whodunnit based on the best-selling novel.
The Wild Robot
Looking for something lovely for a fall family movie night? Don’t sleep on this heartfelt animated movie about a robot stranded on an uninhabited island, who adapts to the harsh surroundings and builds friendships with the animals that live there. Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o voices the robot, Roz, while Pedro Pascal, Catherine O’Hara. Stephanie Hsu, and Bill Nighy round out the main cast.
Ruth & Boaz
You’ll have to be patient for a few weeks to enjoy this fall-perfect Taylor Perry-crafted romance, but it looks like it’ll be worth the wait. This modern retelling of the biblical story of Ruth features romance, a posh winery, and plenty of music (including a cameo by Babyface!). Serayah, Tyler Lepley, and Phylicia Rashad star in this (clearly) timeless love story.
America’s Team
If you’re a sports fan, fall always equals football. This documentary takes a look inside the storied past of “America’s Team,” the Dallas Cowboys.
My Oxford Year
Even if you’re not heading back to school, you can live vicariously in this romantic flick. Sofia Carson stars as an American student who falls in love with her instructor during a year at Oxford University—but he’s hiding a secret that threatens to tear them apart. (P.S. Keep the tissues handy!)
Wayward
Toni Collette and Mae Martin star in this soon-to-come Netflix thriller—where there’s definitely something dark and disturbing happening at a camp for wayward teens.
Unknown Number
Looking for a good excuse to put down your phone? You’ll want to check out this buzzy documentary about one of the most shocking cases of cyberbullying—which may encourage you to bring back the landline.
Smile
If Halloween can’t come soon enough for you, start the creepy season off right with this critically acclaimed horror flick. (Think The Ring, but the world’s scariest smiles—and wild self-inflicted violence—are what spreads.)
Clueless
It’s been 30 years since this teen classic first hit theaters—and yes, Paul Rudd has barely aged at all. (And honestly, neither has this movie!) Enjoy this beloved modern retelling of Jane Austen’s classic Emma (and Alicia Silverstone’s glorious 1990s “Cher hair.”)
Will & Harper
This Emmy-nominated documentary is an absolutely heartwarming buddy film. Will Ferrell and his dear friend (and fellow former SNLer) Harper Steele, who recently transitioned, cross the country together, exploring what Harper’s new identity means for their friendship and how Harper relates to the world around her.
